There is a battle and it is fierce…

Yesterday I did a post on children and exposure, Mrs. Ugochi Obioha Nwanzekindly pointed I should brace myself and prepare them for a balanced view of life… A few minutes later I came across this post by Dale Partridge, almost echoing her comment. Enjoy and prepare for battle “…Our children will grow up in a world far more hostile than the one we did. We never had to concern ourselves with gender pronouns or the risk of pornography on our phones. We never had teachers who taught us to masturbate or openly called us to deny God and the Bible. […]

Sensitivity and Self sabotage…

I have never been so glad I wrote a children storybook-like today. My first motivation for the book was my children and today was a case of physician heal thyself… There’s a program on Nickelodeon, NOObees. When it was coming out newly, 🤔 it didn’t sit well with me. But I felt I was being too rigid, ignored my misgivings and allowed my children to watch it. My first red flag was when my fours years old daughter asked, “Mummy why is David looking at Sylvia like that?” (the two teenage characters, in fact, all the characters are in relationships). I tried […]

There is he that scatters but gains plenty…

I wrote an examination recently, it was a first for most of us. People came in from all over. Some of us had been reshuffled, placed in a new category. We had to individually find information on this new category. Initially, I studied alone and got little. One day, I voluntarily shared the information I had gotten with a colleague. She reciprocated by showing me what she had (something entirely different from mine). When I noticed that, I decided to share more with others and I learned more. On exam day, I overheard another colleague from out of town asking […]

Be Anxious for nothing…

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. While it fuels some to action, it freezes others to inaction. I deal with anxieties some times from thoughts of the unknown, thinking about the future, things I haven’t done, my children, my life and its’ trajectory. Whenever the overwhelming feelings envelop me, I freeze and withdraw into myself. As I grow I am learning to take one step at a time, take deep breaths, talk to myself, rant to God, my husband, and my friend. These are the things that calm me. Writing about […]

When God? I asked. I should ask you that He replied.

I “accidentally” came across this sentence… God took the animals to the man to see what names he would give them: and whatever name he gave them, that was its name. (Gen2:19) This is not my first time reading this but it is my first time getting this meaning from it. Did you notice how God did not give suggestions or direction? Rather the Bible said He watched to see what Adam will do and whatever name he gave, God allowed it. God brought the animals… just like He gives us opportunities and ideas. What I do with them is […]

Ritual, Parenting and Experience

👣This morning, I was going through the ritual of getting the children to jump up and go… as usual, they were gripping about wanting more sleep and moving at their own sweet pace. 👣While rolling up and down to decide which part of the body to come down from the bed first, Nuggie started scratching her leg (to buy more time). Nuggie: “Mummy, Aunty Favour didn’t bring down the mosquito net last night, mosquito bit my leg.” Me: I brought it down myself, stand up. It’s time for school. Besides if she didn’t bring it down, what stopped you? Nuggie: […]

Self Education… My Education

My husband and I attended a small surprise birthday party weeks ago alongside my husband; So I looked forward to it because this is my first time attending a surprise party. While we were enjoying the beautiful ambience of the waterside, watching the twinkling stars and the light reflection move along with the waves, the celebrant came in. The guests were all smiling, were we not to sing or shout surprise or something? At least that’s what happens in movies right? Standing on shaky legs, I ignored the voice telling me ‘oversabi. Did they call you? are you the only […]

Walking With Jesus Through the Gospel

My conversation started while I was studying the book of John… Jesus was telling God He has done what He came to do… I kept asking myself, what did He come to do? I decided to read the gospels with Acts to see Then I saw it… He came to show me what He can do and how He does it… In all the books, He said (you can put your name when you get it) Ufedo, see a blind man, I can heal him, watch me do it. That girl is dead, I can raise her back to life… […]
