Misconception:Children

I see and hear mothers asking for food or things to give their children that will make them fat. When my sister had her baby, they tried everything to make her add weight; no matter what she ate, she never added rather she got stronger and very fresh. I do not really blame those who want their children chubby because that’s the accepted norm for healthiness as seen by most. My children are usually chubby while being exclusively breastfed but during the transition between breast milk only to food with milk, they drop (as in drastically), two of them added over […]

Breastfeeding

Pregnant for the first time, I made all the research I could on pregnancy and everything involved. After seeing the merits of exclusively breastfeeding I decided to take the route. Since I already took a stand for exclusively breastfeeding, I was prepared with information against any argument. The first argument was giving the baby supplements like gripe water, seven seas, Abidec, and so on. I asked the doctors and Google, I was told all the baby needed was only breast milk if its exclusive, I was able to have my way when I showed my mother the proofs and what […]

Unconditional Love

I have always struggled with accepting the fact that God loves me unconditionally not because of what I have done or will ever do. How is that even possible, I keep asking myself. Sometimes when I don’t see reply to my prayer requests I think, “maybe I’ve done something wrong. I am beginning to accept the love of God and growing in it daily now. One thing for sure,I don’t want my children growing with that false mentality of God’s love being conditional, (I don’t even know how I cultivated the mentality myself). Tori refused finishing her food. I always […]

Can God Speak to me?

When I hear people say, “I hear from God or God told me…” I use to think they were lying or exaggerating. Then I wonder, why am I not hearing or how else do I listen? Well…now I know God truly speaks to everybody. In my case motherhood cleared the cobwebs that blocked my hearing, maybe it’s the realization that I am way in over my head or the fact that HELP ME LORD! is my every breathe prayer I don’t know but I have seen that God is interested in every little detail. Two instances among others are: First, after […]

Dews and Droplets

I was getting discouraged and depressed because I have not seen answers to many things I have been working and praying for. My husband called that his car which he had been trying to trade-off for over two months has been sold, I told him “well God tried a little,” “little?” He asked, then he proceeded to remind me of all the different ways God came through for us. When he puts it like that I saw how selfish and ungrateful I have been. I later came to the sitting room, while flipping through channels, I came across Joyce Meyer and […]

New Beginings

After much procrastination and fear, I finally took the plunge and launched my blog. I have always loved writing but it felt so personal to put myself out there through my words. I know this is one of my talent (still trying to discover a new one). I always thought, maybe am too serious, maybe am not interesting enough but I think God saw differently because I have been having the leading to resume; as much as I try to ignore it and think up excuses. So this me leaping in head first and raising my glass of water to new […]

To eat…or not to eat?

I saw some of the harmful ingredients purported to be in drinks, biscuits e.t.c, the increasing number of children with diabetes, more cases of cancer and the side effects of some of these ingredients. So, I decided to play detective and found most of the things we usually buy for my children or i take myself contain about two or three of these ingredients in one! Even the baby milk I went to buy had partially hydrogenated in one of the ingredients, some cereals taste like pure sugar! I cannot fully rule out chemicals but I can stop and replace with […]

Getting schooled

Tori loves meat, fish, egg e.t.c, she will rather eat these than food. I encourage her to eat by promising extra meat/fish. Nugie on the other hand loves food and wouldn’t mind if there is nothing on her food, she just enjoys food and eating. Yesterday, Nugie wanted food,Tori wasn’t interested but when she saw the fish in the food, she wanted it, I refused (that will not be fair to the one eating the food) as usual, she starts crying. While trying to explain to her, a thought came to me (which I believe is the Holy Spirit): That’s what you […]

Babies and Spouses

You’ve done all the best you could for your children: taught them morals, respect and all the what-nots that will make them great men and women tomorrow… Made sacrifices, given them the world if you can with plenty prayers even fasting, and hallelujah! they turned out well. Time to marry, they go successfully you smile sheepishly and relax, time to be called grandpa/grandma but nooooo…one man or woman comes in the name of husband or wife to scatter all the effort you have made with beatings or different abuse in different forms. Ha! My Children! These were the thoughts that went […]
