Do it Afraid Lesson… A success.

Last night after eating, I shared the cleaning up duties amongst my girls. Nuggie clears the plate while Tori cleans. For now Samuel’s duty is his own plate. To clean, Tori has to get the broom and dust pan. Note, there is no light, and the generator is acting up, we were using a rechargeable lantern. Tori: Mummy, I am scared, it’s dark. Nuggie: Mummy let me go with her. Me: No, Tori go with my phone for extra light. Tori: Crying, she went out and ran back. “I can’t find the broom.” Me: if you check properly, you will […]

Cough and God’s Permission…

I was drinking cold water and Tori came to meet me for some. But I said, “No you are coughing. Go drink the one not from the freezer.” She left. Nuggie was playing nearby, seemingly not listening. Few minutes later, she comes to me, coughs and cleared her throat. Then with a straight face says: “Ehen, Mummy, God said that is the last cough that will come out. So can I have the cold water? I’m still undecided on my reaction to that… PS: Can you see her shirt turned inside out? Whenever I try to correct her, she tells […]

something called essence... remember it?

Something Called Essence…Remember It?

A friend sent me a message recently, in her words she said “I am craftless, help me.” I share this because it was a very ironic statement. While we were in school, she was the go to person for everything. From electronics repair, to phones, clothes e.t.c. whatever you want mended or repaired, she will figure it out; with no formal training whatsoever.   She was bursting with creativity and I wished I could do half of the things she did. She topped that up with a formal training in fashion design.   She has been busy with marriage and […]

DIY… Doing it Yourself

My children were playing catch in the room with their teddy bear. While throwing the teddy bear it sailed right past their hands into the baby bed. It is high for them to get, the only way they could get it out was if they climbed or I helped.   Tori tried climbing but I sent her away from there. She tried sneaking there so she could climb again. I caught her and sent her away, thrice she went, and thrice I sent her back.   Finally, she abandoned the quest and looked for something else to play with. About […]

Those are my decisions! toe the line!

When Your Child Never Learns

I have an adopted daughter, she’s eight and I find myself repeating myself over and over. She easily forgets things and I was getting frustrated of sounding like a broken record. At my wit’s end yesterday, I asked her: what do you want me to do, how can I reach you? She had no clue. So I turned to God: Father, I am tired. I don’t know what to do anymore and I am not making any headway with Favour… Please help me. I repeated the same prayer this morning because I was beginning to feel like a failure. While […]

Fathers Are Better Than Mothers… Discuss For/Against.

Earlier I had seen a topic in my daughter’s notebook about roles of family members. Father’s pay school fees and buy’s clothes E.t.c while Mummy’s role is to cook. I felt that was not a good portrait of a woman and decided to tell her teacher about it but I forgot. Weeks later, I heard my daughter telling her self. My Mummy only cooks food but Daddy does plenty things… He buys my clothes, shoes, pays our school fees and the list went on and on. I want to be like daddy so I can do plenty things. Ha! I […]

the rhyme and the stubborn quest

The Rhyme and the Stubborn Quest…

I have always wanted two girls and a boy… “maybe” another boy making it four. but that will be a very unlikely probability. Three is my perfect number, That is what I always prayed for as long as I could remember. I wanted both sex but I preferred the girls to be ratio 2:1.   When I had my daughter, I changed the rhyme to two… I don’t want three anymore, just two Lord. Give me a boy next and I am okay.   During my second pregnancy, I believed it was a boy. I bought everything in blue. Gave […]

phase of sibling rivalry

Phase of Sibling Rivalry

I remember posting about sibling rivalry in a previous post. and how I am repeating lessons taught before in this post.                                        Read Sibling Rivalry Here… Then it was Tori, now it is Nuggie. Hopefully Samuel will not take us through the same route. Even if he does, God’s grace and wisdom is bountifully available to help us handle it properly.   Nuggie said she wanted to drink water, I told her to get from the kitchen and Tori followed her. Next I heard someone crying from the kitchen. “Why is Tori always the first? Every time it’s Tori […]

different shades of children and parenting

Different Shades Of Children And Parenting

In the journey of parenting, Just when I think I have gotten a hang of it, series of new phases come up. The children are growing and they are beginning to think they are too smart for us. Nuggie came to meet me to help her tie her shoe lace. I told her to do it herself and she said: “if it were Daddy, he will tie it for me. I looked up from what I was doing. “Who am I? I asked. “Mummy” she replied, Then why do you want me to behave like daddy? She picked up her […]
