Common Sense and Inner Voice(2)

While writing about the owner of the house where Jesus had his Passover dinner yesterday, I remembered a similar scenario in verse 3-5 of the same chapter. Jesus was eating dinner; a woman came up carrying a bottle of very expensive perfume, opening the bottle she poured it on his head… Imagine this… You heard a prominent man is coming to town or you are getting ready to go for a big seminar/conference and while getting ready you hear “carry your perfume,” that expensive one you reserve for a special occasion. You don’t know why you feel you should carry […]

Common sense and inner voice…

I noticed something in Mark 14… but for today let me talk about verse 12 – 15 Jesus told the disciples to follow a man with a water jar and ask the owner of whichever house he enters for the prepared room. He then specifies that they will be shown a large (spacious) room, prepared and ready for them to use. I will talk about this part tomorrow but for today… Imagine this, you wake up 5 am on a Friday morning and a thought drops in your mind, “wash your yellow shirt today.” 1. You stand up and wash […]

When God? I asked. I should ask you that He replied.

I “accidentally” came across this sentence… God took the animals to the man to see what names he would give them: and whatever name he gave them, that was its name. (Gen2:19) This is not my first time reading this but it is my first time getting this meaning from it. Did you notice how God did not give suggestions or direction? Rather the Bible said He watched to see what Adam will do and whatever name he gave, God allowed it. God brought the animals… just like He gives us opportunities and ideas. What I do with them is […]

Walking With Jesus Through the Gospel

My conversation started while I was studying the book of John… Jesus was telling God He has done what He came to do… I kept asking myself, what did He come to do? I decided to read the gospels with Acts to see Then I saw it… He came to show me what He can do and how He does it… In all the books, He said (you can put your name when you get it) Ufedo, see a blind man, I can heal him, watch me do it. That girl is dead, I can raise her back to life… […]

What do you need for the multitude?

Jesus looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward Him, and He said to Philip, “Where will we buy bread for these people to eat?” JOHN 6:5 AMP There have been times I was in tight corners and God has in one way or the other pulled me out or through it. But next time I am in another tight place, I go back to wondering again… “How will I get out of this?” This was the case with Philip who have been following Jesus for a while, still he forgot the former miracles. I remember thinking […]

My way… Or the highway

John5:9-16 “…you can’t work on the Sabbath! It’s illegal to carry that sleeping mat!” * * Most times we are so fixated on doing things the same way… That is how it has always been done… This is the way it has been working for me… It should be like this E.t.c but…  Check out this excerpt from Francis Chan’s Crazy Love:   “Did you know that a caterpillar has 228 separate and distinct muscles in its head? That’s quite a few, for a bug. The average elm tree has approximately 6 million leaves on it. And your own heart generates […]

Holding on and Positioning to Receive

John5:1-8 I got three things from this story (Jesus and the sick man at the pool of Bethsaida). * * 1. The sick man had a reasonable excuse for not getting his healing even after 38years. The way we have a reasonable excuse for remaining where we are; no money, no long leg aka connection, the government is not paying/working well, the area where I live is not encouraging, many people are already doing the same thing, who will buy, you don’t understand my case is different… And on and on * * 2. The sick man was still there […]

I am too tired to care… But is He?

…Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. John 4:6 NIV Jesus was tired and hungry, but while He was resting this woman comes along…  Most times I love talking to myself more than people. My family and few friends are exceptions (my husband believes I am a chatterbox).  When people talk too much I tune them out, when my children are beginning to talk too much I tell them, “wow, is that so, let’s continue later okay? When I begin to talk too much, my […]

Who do I Trust… can I control this?

Jesus didn’t trust them because He knew what people were really like… No one needed to tell Him about human nature. John2:25 I use to have control/trust issues (still working on it…) No one could do my things as good as me, no one can take care of my children as good as I can. The first week I had Tori, my mom will always tell me to go and sleep… so I can recover fully but I wanted to stay and watch whatever was happening with the baby. When she got tired of telling me to rest she let […]

Where did it originate from… Wrong foundation

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son…John 3:18 If you don’t trust, how can you believe? I struggle with this… Because I have different things bombarding my reality everyday; telling me not to trust God. One of the instances where I was praying for God to help my faith, something from my junior secondary school days came to mind. I use to be a very optimistic and positive child but I discovered that things I look forward to […]
